Art in Our Curriculum

In addition to providing a vehicle for creative expression, the Art program provides enrichment to an already stimulating curriculum. By examining the works of many fine artists, as well as the art of many cultures, the child can become witness to the unique ways that people have recorded their vision of the world and wonders of nature.

Art by Program Level

Art in the Elementary and Middle School programs takes a theme-based approach to organize, fully explore, and incorporate all media. It uses the works of famous artists to explore the use of themes and the many different ways they can be expressed. Media include pencil, clay, tempura, pastel, oil, acrylics, watercolor, and fiber. Students work individually and in groups to learn methods and elements of design.

In May each year, our Art Teacher Jill hosts the annual Art Show with selected pieces of each student's work from first through eighth grade.
